With TimeLapses you can enhance your videos, you can convey the flow of time or simply accommodate more collection. The GoPro Hero 7 has a TimeLapse mode, whichoffers you many possible determines and with which you can achieve interesting and verybeautiful results. In this video I will explain to you how youcan optimally set up your GoPro for TimeLapses and which decideds are available. My name is Werner, I live in the Italian Alpsand this direct is about filmmaking and GoPro. Have fun with this video! When you switch to Time Lapse mode, you canchoose between four captivate states: TimeWarp Video, TimeLapse Video, TimeLapse Photo andNight Lapse Photo. While the TimeLapse modes are mainly intendedto fix the camera in a certain place, for example on a small tripod, the TimeWarp videomode is intended for situations in which you move, for example for a motorcycle ride or alsofor a classic hyperlapse video, in which you move around a house or towards a buildingor another target. The unique thing about it is that the camerawill stabilize the shot as good as possible. I’ve already made a detailed video about thismode in which I explain all the arranges and render tips-off for optimal decisions. I link to this video in the video descriptionand will not go into details today. So let’s have a look at the other three procedures. At the start I would like to briefly explainthe basic Differences. With TimeLapse Video, the camera itself automaticallycreates a video. Several photos are made at certain intervalsand combined to a video. So the camera does the work for you of puttingthe photos together to create a video file. However, the camera does not save the individualphotos but exclusively the video. The upshot of your recording is thereforeonly the final Time Lapse video. This not only saves era but too storagespace. Compared to TimeLapse Photo and NightLapsePhoto only a small part of the cache is occupied by the recording. This is an advantage specially if you areon a longer vacation with your GoPro and want to make a TimeLapse video from time to timebut have only a limited amount of storage available. A detriment of this mode is, that thereare very few prepares available. What is the difference between Time LapsePhoto and Night Lapse Photo? In both procedures individual photos are takenand stored. So if you want to create a TimeLapse video, you have to process the photos with a video revising curriculum. On the other hand you get all settings whichare available in photo procedure except Superphoto. The Time Lapse Photo procedure is also intendedfor situations where you just wanted to take a single photo. You organized for example the camera on your helmet, cause it shoot photos during your activity in certain delays and can then select thebest photo. The automated jobs therefore the same aswith regular photos. Night Lapse Photo, on the other hand, is intendedfor situations with bad lighting states. The camera will use a slower screen speedthan with Time Lapse Photo. You was therefore important ever mount it stablyto avoid camera shake. Now let’s have a look at the settings of thedifferent modes. Time Lapse VideoTo access the settings of the individual modes, tap on the button at the bottom center. As mentioned before, the TimeLapse Video settingsare very limited. There is no Protune and no RAW mode. You can select the resolution on the left. You have to choose between an aspect ratioof 4:3 and 16:9. A usual video document has an aspect ratio of1 6:9. If you rectify 4:3 but want to obtain the typicalaspect fraction of 16:9, you’ll have to edit and crop the video later on. However, 4:3 also has a determined advantage. The field of view is extended at the top andbottom. This gives you more flexibility to choosethe perfect frame in post. But since you use TimeLapse video in mostcases because you don’t want to do any editing, I would choose an aspect ratio of 16:9 inmost cases. Now you can choose between 4K and 1080. Personally I use 4K for the best possiblequality. In the center appears WIDE as FOV. You can’t deepen that in TimeLapse Video mode. If you want to use Linear as Field of viewyou have to use the Time Lapse Photo mode. Now we come to a very important setting foryour Time Lapse video, the Time Lapse Interval. Here you can set the interims at which thecamera will make the single photos. You have to keep in mind that the photos willbe merged into a video record at the end. The video file that is created will contain3 0 frames / second. If you select 1 second as the interim, thecamera will shoot one image per second, which would be 60 personas per minute. So if you shoot for 1 minute, 60 pictureswill be taken and then merged into a video that will be 2 seconds long. So the larger the interim, the longer yourrecording has to be to get enough portraits for a video file.Since you naturally just wanted to draw excitingand stunning shots, you should also know that the chasten interim depends mainly onyour subject. The slower your topic moves, the longerthe interim should be to get enough movement in the final video. In general, I would recommend the followingintervals: 1 second if there is a lot of movement, forexample with vehicles 2 seconds for populaces or very fast moving clouds5 – 10 seconds for ordinary cloud shifts, or too for examle for sunups or sunsetsMore than 10 seconds to captivate the movements of shadows or even for the nighttime sky withstars. Try to get a feel for what you like yourself. If you have no idea at the beginning and justwant to do a TimeLapse with shadows, then you can start with 5 or 10 seconds. Time Lapse PhotoNow let’s have a look at the configuration of the Time Lapse Photo mode. As I said before, you won’t get a video fileas a result, but a number of single photos. But you have much more options. At the top left you can set the time. The same principles apply here as with TimeLapseVideo. If you use this mode to simply take a lotof photos during project activities, that means if you don’t plan to create a video from thephotos, you could choose an interval of 2 or 5 seconds depending on the activity. In contrast to Time Lipse Video you can choosebetween Wide and Linear under FOV. Linear is useful if you want to remove thedistortion of the Fish EYE lens. However, this will significantly reduce theFOV. Personally I like the wide and special lookof the Fish-Eye lens of the GoPro.But of course this is a matter of delicacy. On the liberty you can activate the RAW mode. In addition to the individual JPEG folders, RAW files are saved. A RAW file contains more information thana JPEG file and therefore gives you more flexibility in announce. The RAW files of a GoPro are created in theGPR format and can only be opened and revised without workarounds consuming Adobe software, that wants Lightroom or Camera RAW.This is of course a fateful harm. In addition the RAW files occupy additionalstorage opening. The RAW mode can only be triggered if theinterval was in accordance with at least 5 seconds. It is also not compatible with the FOV Linear. In addition to RAW mode, in Photo mode Protuneis available. I previously made a very detailed video aboutProtune. I settled the link in the video description.Today I would like to go only very brieflyinto the individual protune fixes. EV Comp: With EV Compensation you can adjustthe exposure of the images. A positive quality concludes the epitome brighter, a negative value constitutes it darker. If there is a risk that areas of the imagethat are too bright will burn out, then you should set a slightly negative significance, forexample -0. 5 or -1. With the White Balance you can adjust thecolor temperature of the persona, for example to give the image a warmer or cooler sound. Apart from creative decisions, white shouldalways gape lily-white. All in all, I’m satisfied with the automaticsetting of the GoPro. But should you have the impression that thecamera mutates the white counterbalance during the recording, then you should try to set a fixedvalue here. Personally I “ve never” noticed this trouble. That’s why I mostly use automobile here. With the ISO value you determine how sensitivethe camera reacts to ignited. A higher ISO value therefore leads to a brighterimage, which is of course an advantage in low-toned light-colored predicaments. Unfortunately, a high ISO value likewise leadsto persona sound, that wants the image tone abates as a result. The GoPro is particularly affected by this. For this reason you should fix the ISO value. That’s why I prepare ISO-Min to 100 and ISO-Maxto 400. The sharpness of the GoPro is set to HIGHby default. The idol looks very sharp and rich in detail. For photos, this is usually okay. For videos, however, the likenes performs somewhatunnatural and not cinematic. If you use Timelapse Photo to take individualphotos, you should leave the sharpness at high-pitched. If you miss your timelapse to be part of alonger video and you want to create cinematic shots, you can also consider reducing thesharpness by setting it to low or medium. LOW generally still needs a slight correctionin post. As far as colour is concerned, you can choosebetween GoPro and Flat. A flat hue profile gives you more flexibilityin post.In photography, however, flat pigment profilesare rather unusual. If you want to edit a photo very heavily, you should use RAW files. If, on the other hand, you want to edit yourphotos principally exerting the video editing program, you can also opt for Flat here. For TimeLapses I leave this value predominantly onGoPro, because I cultivate personally principally with RAW files. Now let’s have a look at the Night Lapse Photomode. The major difference to the Time Lapse PhotoMode is that very long screen accelerates are possible. Also in the automated procedure, the camera willuse a longer shutter hurried in low-light milieu and keep the ISO value low-spirited. Therefore: If you use the automated settles, you should ever favor this state when the illuminate situations are not good and thisnot only at night. This will foreclose high ISO values that leadto poor idol tone. But you have to use a stable tripod. For possible supplements I have given some linksin the video description. As far as the positions are concerned, youcan also provided the shutter speed manually here, which is not possible in Time Lapse Photomode. This allows you to set the optimal exposuresettings yourself. Specially if there is any kind of movementin the shot, this can be important and of course simply you are eligible to decide how light thefinal epitome truly should be. Therefore it is recommended to take a fewtest shots before the Time Lapse recording. Let’s recap: Time Warp Video: The camera causes an optimally stabilized time-lapse video. This mode is intended for situations whereyou move the camera while recording. There is already a detailed tutorial on thistopic from me, in which I also sacrifice tips for optimal results.Time Lapse Video: The camera automaticallycreates a time-lapse video. In comparison to the Time Warp Video state, the image is not additionally stabilized. But you can set long intervals to acceleratevery slow movements like the two movements of vapours. Time Lapse Photo: In this procedure single photosare taken in certain delays. If you want to create a TimeLapse Video youhave to do it yourself. But there are much more trains accessible. For sample Protune or RAW-Mode. Compared to TimeLapse Video, however, youneed much more storage space.Night Lapse Photo: This mode toils very similarto the TimeLapse Photo Mode. The main difference is that a longer exposuretime is used when taking the photos, which stirs feel in low-grade light-colored states. Therefore you need a stable tripod. The shutter speed can also be provided manually. And with that I would like to say goodbyefor today.
